BIOGRAPHY

An artist is often identified with a specific genre.  Unlike many of her contemporaries, Mandy Mojica defies such limitations. When recently asked what her preferred genre is - she simply stated:

"Many people say that you must find your style. That to me is saying tell me who you are and I can never answer that. I am constantly changing every day. Every day I am evolving into someone different, hopefully someone more complete..."

So it is with the genius of a creative mind. Any talent that defies categorization or labels is surely destined to set the pattern for new ways at seeing the totality of our human family.  Many people are seeing exactly this truth in the courage and beauty of Mandy's art.

For those in need of a traditional description, it could be said that the origin of Mandy's art began with her modest upbringing in Passaic, New Jersey. Raised in a strict Christian family of Puerto Rican decent, Mandy left home at the age of twelve to become a runaway living in the streets of New York. As time past, she became involved with several types of relationships. She had a child, married for eight years, divorced, and began living with her partner in a relationship which has now lasted for several years.  From these experiences, she has learned to most admire women who "take the directions of their lives into their own hands and mold it to what they want it to be." Hence it is an admiration and love for women that is most readily seen in Mandy's artworks today.

Regarding Mandy's current preferred media, presently it is computer graphics, photography, charcoals and contι.

Matisse and Dali along with an artistic father and brother are generally regarded as Mandy's main art influences. The art deco era is considered to be her favorite stylistic period.
